Join Catherine for a fun night of sewing! Since many of our students enjoy the social atmosphere of a sewing community, we thought it would be great to add a studio share night to our calendar.  Bring your own project to work that you can do uninstructed (Catherine will be working on her own project) and we will provide the space. Let us know if you need anything specific like a large cutting table or if you will be working with a specific machine. Catherine will help with machine set-ups.  Special pricing for our current and former students!

Make It Fit!

This workshop is for you if you are making your own clothing and the end product still doesn’t fit, or if you are altering store bought clothes to fit your body. We will explore what to look for in relation to the fit of a garment, such as balance and proportion, and learn how you can correct your pattern or garment. Each student must bring a garment (or a muslin) that they have made (or purchased) along with your pattern. Catherine will review each garment on the student and discuss how it needs to be corrected. Then she will teach each student how to make that correction on their pattern or on the garment itself. Bring up to 2 garments and their corresponding patterns. This is a small class and limited to 4 students. Taught by Catherine Petrosino.

TUESDAY EVENINGS:

Project Workshops:

We know that some of our students like to learn how to make a specific project in one class, so we will be offering Project Workshops over the course of the year. New workshops to be announced at our September Open House, but here is our first one:

Hobo Bag:

Join Karen for a fun night sewing Butterick Pattern’s B5799 hobo bag! Show off your sewing skills and learn a few new ones with this great carry-all bag. We are going to make it easy for you by having the bag pieces pre-cut so all you need to do is sew!

This workshop is great for beginners (who have taken our beginner class) or intermediates who would love to make a project in one night! (Hint: It is the perfect bag to make for gifts this holiday season!) All materials for the bag are included in the cost of the workshop.

WEDNESDAY EVENING:

October 25th

6:00 – 9:00

COST:

$95 for a 3 hour workshop | $85 for all current and former students (that have purchased an Open Level package with us).

Pattern Hacking:

Let’s take our favorite Brooklyn Stitchery tote bag and find ways to get multiple uses out of one pattern! This is a problem solving workshop that will show you how to create new designs out of any basic pattern. Instead of using one printed fabric, the designer within you may want to use four! Or you may want to add a pocket to accommodate special items. With some simple hacking tips and some pattern paper you can flex your designer muscles and maximize the patterns in your collection. Patternmaking skills are not required. All materials needed to make your pattern are included in the cost.

TUESDAY EVENING:

December 5th

6:30 – 9:00

COST:

$80 for a 3 hour workshop | $70 for Ambassadors*

Tote Bag Sew-Along in our Open Level Class:

Need help sewing your new tote bag using the new pattern that you made in our Pattern Hacking class? Join us the following week and Karen will walk you through the sewing of your tote bag. You must have your bag precut before the class as you will only have enough time to sew your tote bag.

TUESDAY EVENING:

December 12th

6:00 – 9:00

COST:

$150 total for the Pattern Hacking and Tote Bag Sew-Along

*AMBASSADORS are all of our former or current students that have purchased an Open Level Sewing Series package with us.
